Tired of the same old CSS Galleries, I would like to feature creative and new idea’s in the world of web design.

I saw this site on Daily Slurp, and just had to post something about it. Lately I have had a keen eye towards ornate elements, and this site definitely has one that stands out. However I like that it is not a flat, brush like ornate element, rather than a beautiful illustration that that gives a royal look you simply do not find on most sites with an ornate feel.
Along with the usage of the “slab gray” color scheme, it looks as if the header is carved out of marble, really driving home the idea of an Artist. Bravo..

What really strikes me about this design is the mixing of mediums. Even though you will find illustrative design elements on the
web, how often do you see unique artwork with such vivid colors driving the design itself?
Overall this site uses a unique color scheme, which is a nice and refreshing change from what you see browsing the web.
While there are only a set number of color combinations, sometimes I grow tired seeing radiant green or radiant blue on black/dark gray. This site looks beyond those colors.

Kudos to those willing to use colors like bright pink on designs that are not obviously marketed towards women. It seems many designers are afraid to use gender biased colors unless they want to beat you over the head with it. The mix of plenty of whitespace and the pink to highlight the important features really creates a balance and communicates what they are saying is important.
Modern Blue Design
What struck me about this design with the use of typography to accent importance. We all know we don’t read every word on the internet, yet many people poor out large blocks of text that only 1% of people are actually going to read. By scanning the page in literally a few seconds I instantly pick up the following words – “Competition, Increasing, Design Firm, Intuitive Designs, We Understand, Project Analysis.” Very Powerful message with almost no in depth reading required. The placement of the logo with in the text is also a nice touch, although I almost ignored the type above it since my eye was drawn to it initial, and I read downward from there.

At this point I am not worried about if I or anyone would use the design, or even love it, just that it follows basic design rules (Sites that are different and new simply because they ignore any sort of design all together really don’t qualify.) I would prefer CSS based sites, however some mild use of tables can be acceptable if under control and the site has a unique feel.
