Not another Web Design Blog!

Yes, yes, this my contribution to the thousands of web design blogs on the internet right now. I would like to say that mine is signficantly different, but honestly I only read a handful of design blogs and have little to compare it to. My goal is different than the rest of the blogs I read however. I hope to help all the other freelance and small design houses identify how to grow as a company, through the mistakes and discoveries I learned from running my own small design business (3.7 Designs).

Experience the results of my experience in User Experience?

I guess I could ramble on about my experience in web design, but I would be shocked if anyone reads this section anyways so I won’t elaborate too much. I made my first webpage at the age of 14, in 1996 when I was a freshman in highschool. Previous to web design, I always wanted to integrate my love of art and drawing with computers… at that time there were very few options. Now I have been developing websites ever since…

So yeah… I have experience in web pages. My girlfriend calls me a “Computer Dork” , which could not be more fitting. I find interest in the little details that most people would barf thinking about. It’s like the guy in your highschool physics class that scrambled to do every problem assigned not for the points, but because he liked them. Luckily they don’t really teach web design in school, because I am pretty sure I would just end up getting my ass kicked…

What are your qualifications you no good son of a bitch?

Woah, calm down there. If I were to brag about myself I would ramble about co-founding Refresh Detroit, co-hosting WebAxe, and generally stating that I am sweet and that is qualification enough.

I could further talk about how I started designing web pages over ten years ago, and blogged before it was called blogging… and that I remember when Moveable Type first came out - but that would just be stating that I noticed. So instead I think I will just say “take my word for it - damn it.”

Is this crap worth reading?

I would like to think so, but probably not for the reasons I hope. While I would like to think that people would read this blog because I am insightful and deep… people are more likely to read it because I manage to write in a way that makes people laugh. I guess we all can’t be known for being intellegent, but maybe I just don’t have the right equipment to reach that level anyways? ;)
